It’s always overwhelming to start the college search and application process: students have so many options and often receive conflicting information (from teachers, school advisors, coaches, mentors, friends). So much of college strategy involves finding the right place for each unique individual’s specific talents and interests. There’s no such thing as “one size fits all” for colleges, but a range of campuses that could be exciting educational-intellectual-social homes.
A key part of my initial conversations with students is understanding who they are as people, what motivates and inspires them, experiences that have shaped them, their hopes and fears about college — so we can build intentional strategy together and they have exciting options for colleges where they’ll feel supported and inspired!

Finding the right graduate program for your specific interests and career goals is NOTHING like applying to colleges; for graduate school, you are not applying to the University as a whole — you are applying to the particular program and/or department in your field(s) of interest, often to work directly with specific faculty advisors. As an example: Harvard is GREAT for Education & Public Policy programs, but not the best target for a PhD in Neuroscience, Engineering, or Music. Similarly, many universities you might not have considered for undergrad applications may be ranked in the Top 10 for your particular graduate program.
We’ll sift through the ins-and-outs of finding the right program for who you are, how your mind works, your academic-professional background and future goals.

Harvard University / I have a track record of mentoring clients into fantastic programs at Harvard that support who they are & their specific career goals, though always emphasize that Harvard isn’t the be-all & end-all of admissions AND it’s often not the best fit for the particular field(s) you’re most interested in. SUCCESSES: Kennedy School for Public Policy (+ competitive fellowships once you’re there!), Law School, Graduate School of Design (Masters in Architecture); School of Education (HGSE): MA in Educational Policy, Learning Design & Innovation/Technology, Mind/Brain & Education
Vanderbilt: Undergraduate (ED), Peabody College of Education (MEd., EdD), PhDs
Georgetown University: College, Law, McCourt School of Public Policy, MA in Educational Transformation
